Most types of therapeutic massage are usually done by getting the home service of a massage therapist or going to a massage spa to be massaged by a masseuse. Most of the time, you will be asked to remove your clothes and lie down on a padded massage table to be worked on by the massage therapist for the best result from the massage therapy method you chose. However, reflexology is different from all of these as it can be done with or without the service of a massage therapist.

Reflexology massage therapy can be done almost anywhere and anytime you would want to relax and relieve yourself. Unlike the other massage techniques that requires a padded massage bed or a futon mat, reflexology can be done while sitting at your office chair, watching TV, reading the newspaper and other stuffs. You can also do this in the morning, noon, and in the evening as long as you don t do it after an hour of having your meal. Massage oils, creams and lotions are not required on a reflexology massage as you basically need to press the key areas all over your hands and feet unlike most massage therapies that require massage strokes that needs lubricant for better maneuvering over the whole body. Instead of other mediums used on most massage therapies, you can use a golf ball and a foot roller to aid you as you work your therapeutic massage on your hands and feet.

Unlike any other massage therapy, reflexology massage can be learned by almost all people as it doesn t require you to learn complicated and hard to execute massage strokes. Reflexology is an easy and simple style of massage therapy that can be learned at home through different informative materials. The Internet is a good way to start your search for good information regarding reflexology and its different technique. There are free websites that offer tons of great information that can help you with your studies on reflexology. Aside from the Internet, books pertaining to reflexology are available in the market for a quick reference which includes a reflexology chart for you to easily familiarize. Books are handy and are great for a quick reference anytime you need to know something. By relying on this great information you can massage yourself and your family and friends with your self-learned reflexology massage therapy.

Although warming up your hands and feet is not necessary on your do-it-yourself reflexology session, start your reflexology by shaking and stretching them is a good thing to do. Gently put pressure, stretch and move your thumbs and fingers on the different reflex areas that you want to work out. The best way to do this is by sitting back on a chair and relaxes your whole body as you manipulate your hand on your other hand and feet. You can do this for 30 minutes to an hour depending on your preference. The important thing to remember and do during your reflexology is to focus and be consistent on your target reflex points for best result.
